How to make a Spotify QR code

  1. Copy the Spotify link

In Spotify, tap the three dots on the song, playlist or podcast, then Share and Copy link.

  2. Paste it into the maker

Paste the link into the "Website address" field above.

  3. Scan, then download

Check the code opens the right content on your phone, then download SVG for print or PNG for screens.

Every song, album, artist, playlist, podcast and episode on Spotify has a share link:

  1. Tap the three dots next to it, or on its page.
  2. Tap Share, then Copy link.
  3. Paste the link into the maker.

On a computer, right click the item, choose Share, then Copy link. Any of these links work. The code opens the Spotify app if it is installed, or the web player if not.

Spotify Code vs QR code: which should you use?

Spotify has its own scannable tag, called a Spotify Code. Spotify Codes describes it this way: “A Spotify Code is a QR-like “scannable” tag that can be used to quickly share or access a piece of content within Spotify.”

The catch is how people scan it, and Spotify’s own pages do not agree. We read all three on 3 November 2026:

  • spotifycodes.com says: “Spotify Codes can only be read from the in-app scanner on the Spotify app.”
  • The help page Share from Spotify says: “Then a friend can scan the code with their phone camera.” It also gives the in-app steps: “Tap Search. Tap the search bar. Tap the camera. Tap SCAN. Point your camera at a Spotify Code.”
  • Spotify’s newsroom post on Spotify Codes says codes “can be scanned using the camera on your phone or within the Spotify app”.

The safe reading: a Spotify Code may need the Spotify app scanner. A QR code opens in any phone camera, with or without the Spotify app.

Use a Spotify Code when your audience already uses Spotify and you want the Spotify look.

Use a QR code when:

  • People may not have the Spotify app, or may not know where its scanner is.
  • People will just point their camera: posters, flyers, wedding tables, menus.
  • You want the link to open the web player for people without the app.
  • You need SVG, your own colors or a logo. Open “Colors, size and logo” for that, and see the logo guide to keep it readable.

Ideas: weddings, parties, gigs, merch, podcasts

  • Weddings and parties. Put a code on the tables that opens a shared playlist. The wedding QR code page has more ideas for the day.
  • Gigs and merch. A code on a T-shirt tag, a sticker or the back of a CD opens your artist page.
  • Podcasts. A code on a flyer or business card opens your show.
  • Shops and cafes. A code by the counter opens the playlist that is playing.

If you also post videos, the YouTube QR code page covers channels and videos the same way.

Will the code still work if I edit my playlist?

Yes. The code holds the link to the playlist, so changes you make show up when people open it. It stops working only if you delete the playlist or make it private. Our guide on whether QR codes expire explains why a static code does not run out.

Not the Family plan verification code

If you came here because Spotify asked you to scan a QR code for a Family plan, that is a different thing. It is Spotify’s own check for Family plan members, made by Spotify, and it has nothing to do with sharing music.

Before you print

Scan the code with an iPhone and an Android phone, ideally one without the Spotify app, to check it opens the web player. If it does not scan, see why won’t my QR code scan?

Questions people ask

Can you scan a Spotify Code with a normal camera?

Spotify's own pages disagree. Its share help page and newsroom say a phone camera works, but spotifycodes.com says Spotify Codes can only be read from the in-app scanner. A QR code of a Spotify link opens in any camera app.

How do I make a QR code for my Spotify playlist?

Open the playlist, tap Share and copy the link, then paste it into the maker. Make sure the playlist is public, or people who scan will not see it.

Does a Spotify QR code expire?

A code made here does not. The Spotify link is stored in the pattern, so it keeps working as long as the song, playlist or podcast is on Spotify.

Does the QR code update when I add songs to the playlist?

Yes. The code opens the playlist link, not a copy of it, so people always see the playlist as it is now.

How do I get a high-resolution Spotify Code?

Spotify's help page says: "For a high resolution Spotify code, go to spotifycodes.com." For a QR code, download SVG here, which stays sharp at any size.

What is the Spotify Family plan QR code?

It is a different thing. It is a code Spotify uses to check Family plan members, not a way to share music, and this maker cannot make it.
